- First of all, products of polypropylene sludge can boast of increased heat resistance (+ 95 ° C). Such pipes have demonstrated excellent performance and have proven themselves in hot water supply (including centralized). The permissible temperature indicator for PVC pipes is much lower (up to + 60⁰С), which excludes their use as elements of pipelines for the supply of hot water, heating.
- Polypropylene pipes are more durable and have excellent indicators of wear resistance. In terms of service life, polypropylene products are significantly superior to PVC models. The reason for this is the insufficient reliability of the structure of polyvinyl chloride, as well as its poor resistance to various factors of influence. In addition, the lower smoothness and wear resistance of the surfaces of PVC pipes contributes to their slow destruction.
- The advantage of Polypropylene pipes over PVC products is their great frost resistance. It provides materials with access to use at low temperatures up to -20⁰С. At the same time, the PVC material is not only unable to withstand a drop in temperature to the same level, but the possibility of installing pipes in severe frost is also excluded.
If we talk exclusively about color, then the color is due solely to the introduction of the corresponding color dye in the raw material. It can be white, gray, green, blue and any other dye. The dye does not affect product quality in any way and carries an exclusively aesthetic burden.
This abbreviation is from “Standart Dimension Ratio”, which means “standard dimensional coefficient”. SDR displays the ratio of outside diameter to tube wall thickness.
The service life of polypropylene pipes directly depends on several factors, namely: on the water temperature and the maximum allowable pressure for a particular type of water, as well as subject to the installation technology and operating requirements.
The service life of polypropylene pipes is much higher than that of structures made of other materials.
Installation of heating and water supply systems must be carried out strictly in accordance with the requirements of current regulatory and technical documents governing the production and acceptance rules of installation works. Neither in GOST, nor in SNiP RK there are technological maps and information on the installation of heating and water supply systems from polypropylene pipes inside wooden walls. The factors for the appearance of condensate on the pipes can be different, one of them is: “Increased room humidity”, “Poor insulation”, “Sudden temperature difference”, “Inadequate ventilation”, etc.
Polypropylene fittings are not suitable for HDPE pipes, as by the type of molecular structure, these two materials are not comparable.
A fitting damaged during operation is not suitable for further use. It needs to be cut out and replaced with another. You should not try to “clean” the remains of polypropylene from it and re-weld it with a pipe.
Oil pipelines require a rather large number of mandatory conditions. At the same time, a considerable part of these conditions also falls on the share of the material from which pipes and fittings for oil pipelines are made. Some materials are not at all suitable for transporting oil and oil products. This, for example, cast iron, many steel grades, polyvinyl chloride. However, it is possible to list unsuitable materials for a long time, but there are only two materials suitable for the manufacture of pipes for the oil industry: these are high-strength steel and polypropylene (PPR). Polypropylene is a material that is obtained from petroleum products or from petroleum cracking gases that combine with catalysts.
PN is the maximum allowable working pressure with which the system can be operated at a temperature of 20 ° C for a service life of 50 years.
The recommended technology for soldering polypropylene pipes involves several stages.
- The device must be installed on a flat surface so that it is easily accessible. The desired temperature is set on the control panel of the device, for polypropylene pipes it is 260 °. The device turns on and heats up, which takes about 10-15 minutes.
- Using special scissors, the part is cut at a right angle. The cut point is cleaned and degreased with the fitting using a soap or alcohol solution.
- Elements are put on nozzles of the device of the necessary diameter. The pipe is inserted into the sleeve to the limiter, showing the depth of welding, and the fitting is installed on the mandrel. The heating time of parts is strictly maintained. For each type of pipe it is different.
- The heated parts are removed from the apparatus and are connected with each other with confident fast movement in compliance with the alignments of the elements. Connecting parts they can not be rotated axially or bent. It is also necessary to strictly monitor that the pipe enters to a depth defined by the inner boundary of the fitting's socket.
- Preheated parts must be allowed to cool, this is especially important for thin-walled pipes. Any deformation of parts at this time is unacceptable, they can lead to sealing of the inner lumen of the pipe.
If we talk about how to choose polypropylene pipes for heating, it would be preferable to use glass fiber reinforced pipes for these purposes. Fiberglass-reinforced polypropylene is a three-layer composite in which the middle reinforcing layer of fiberglass is welded with the polypropylene particles of adjacent layers. Due to its solidity, it does not delaminate, unlike aluminum-reinforced polypropylene. Glass fiber reinforced pipes have a much lower linear expansion coefficient than conventional polypropylene pipes. Also, pipes reinforced with fiberglass, have greater elasticity, which provides the necessary flexibility, greatly facilitating installation. The installation time is also reduced, since prior to welding, the preliminary cleaning of the aluminum layer is not required.
- The working temperature of polypropylene sewer pipes is +75 ° C (they withstand temperatures up to +95 ° C for 2 to 3 minutes). For PVC pipes, the upper limit of the withstand temperature is + 65 ° C, which limits the use of these pipes in sewage systems for hot drains (washing machines, dishwashers, etc.)
- Compared to PVC pipes, polypropylene pipes are stronger, especially at low temperatures, which plays an important role in transportation and installation in our climatic conditions.
- Polyvinyl chloride does not have the same molecular memory as polypropylene, therefore, as a result of deformations, PVC pipes poorly recover shape, unlike polypropylene
Glass fiber reinforced pipes are more durable and resistant to temperature extremes compared to conventional PPR pipes. At that time, when an ordinary pipe at high temperatures is close to a highly elastic state, the maximum that threatens a reinforced pipe is a slight deformation.
